One of twenty six 10 pence coins in the Quintessentially British A to Z collection featuring a different letter to represent and celebrate different British landmarks and traditions. Steeped in mystery and unclear in origin, ‘X marks the spot’ has taken on many meanings and been intertwined with popular culture, mythology and everyday life for centuries. The first recorded use of X marks the spot was in 1813, although it’s widely thought that it is much older than this. From the Royal Mint webvsite for 2019: "There is an unlimited mintage set against the collectable Uncirculated Great British Coin Hunt A-Z 2019 10p coins made. However, 2.1 million circulating versions of the coins will be released into circulation from February 2019."
